The Direct Energy Essentials Plans ("Plan") are provided by NRG Protects Inc. Independent contractors will be performing various services under the Plan. Customers must sign up for a 1-year commitment (the "Initial Term").There is a 30-day waiting period before coverage begins under the Repair Plans. Unless we elect not to renew the Plan, upon expiration of the Initial Term, the Plan will automatically renew at the standard rate and terms unless the customer opts out of the auto-renewal option in writing by mail at P.O. Box 2309, Houston, TX 77252-2309, by email at cancel@directenergyprotects.com or by calling us at (855) 334-3577. Sales tax will be added in select states.

What kind of plans can I choose from?

We have plans to cover your heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical systems, plus your external water and sewer lines and your internal gas lines. We can also help you protect your kitchen and laundry appliances. We even offer surge protection plans that cover appliances, electronics and even mobile devices.

What options do I have to pay for this service?

We accept bank drafts (EFT/ACH) and credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover).

How long am I covered by the plan?

You are covered under the plan for 12 months. We may elect to renew your plan by notifying you of the renewal terms (including any price changes) within 60 days prior to expiration of coverage. Unless we elect not to renew your plan, you will be automatically renewed for another one-year term at the then standard rate and terms.

If you do not want to automatically renew your plan, you may notify us in writing prior to the plan expiration date.

When does the plan coverage start?

There is a 30-day waiting period before coverage begins during the initial term year for repairs. Maintenance coverage begins immediately.

Can I cancel my plan if I'm not satisfied?

You can cancel your plan at any time.

If you cancel your plan within 30 days of your coverage start date and you have not received any services under the plan, you're entitled to full refund of what you have paid for the plan. If you cancel more than 30 days after the start date and have not received services under the plan, you will be entitled to a pro rated refund for any payments you've made for the unexpired term of your contract. If you have received services under the plan and you cancel before the end of the 12-month term, you may owe the lesser of the amount due for the unexpired term or the cost of the services under the plan. We may elect to renew your plan by notifying you of the renewal terms (including any price changes) within 60 days prior to expiration of coverage.
